Rub those fingers together, because we now enter the Johnny Football era. I hope Cleveland is prepared for back-to-back Superbowls and NBA titles. I’m not sure that I’m ready. Just know that you’ve been warned.

Also, before getting any further, I’d like to express sympathy for Cam Newton and hopes for a quick recovery. As a Panthers hating Bucs fan, I still wish him losses on the field but hope the dude is doing okay. That wreck was scary stuff.

It has been two weeks since the last Weekly Scrimmage. Due to some technical difficulty, it wasn’t possible to make the regularly scheduled post date and I made the decision to wait until this week to update.

With the picks from two weeks ago not going so well, I can’t gloat too much in getting twelve right last week. But it was a good week. No one saw that Panthers Saints outcome either. I don’t want to hear it. Maybe you picked them as a winner, but no one had the Panthers just decimating the Saints, especially at home.

Which really brings us back to the point that has been pretty clear for nearly the entire season; the NFC South sucks. I mean, they’re talented. Honestly, all four teams have a lot of talent. But in seasons past, the division title would be up for grabs this late because at least two teams had it together. Not because they all looked to be uninterested in winning games. With three weeks left, only now is Tampa really out of contention. And with Oakland losing, Tampa is in line to get the first overall pick. That’s really kind of disgusting. On the real though, I’m all about the Bucs drafting Mariota. Anyway, here’s a quick look at my picks. And a link to my ESPN page where I make them can be found here. I nailed nine picks from last week, missing on the Panthers, Vikings, Cardinals, and Raiders. Here is who I have in week 15,

  • Rams
  • Steelers
  • Packers
  • Browns
  • Colts
  • Cheifs
  • Patriots
  • Giants
  • Bucs
  • Ravens
  • Broncos
  • Titans
  • Lions
  • Seahawks
  • Cowboys
  • Saints

Looking at week 15, a few recent events to key in on. First, I already mentioned how bad the Saints looked against the Panthers (yet I managed to pick them again this week) but what in the world is going on in San Francisco? I don’t think fear is an appropriate word to use for NFL teams facing opponents, but I believe there was a healthy dose of respect for teams prepping for the Niners. Their style of play brutalized the other team and wore them down until the game was over. Harbaugh and that defense were always in contention to win games. Now, who knows where he’s even coaching next season. Secondly, yes I picked the Cowboys again after they just lost to the Eagles. But I’m betting on Dallas controlling the line of scrimmage and that Eagles opportunistic defense not scoring. I think this is a different year for Dallas. Also, I nearly stuck with keeping my Panthers pick as they already defeated Tampa once this year with a backup QB, but I believe stronger in Tampa’s ability to screw up getting the top pick.

That’ll bring us to the end of another (sometimes weekly) edition of Weekly Scrimmage. Hate my picks? Leave a comment below and have a good week.
